Albion were defeated 2-0 by league leaders Coventry City at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
First-half Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni goals earned the Sky Blues all three Sky Bet Championship points.
The Baggies return home this Tuesday, hosting Charlton Athletic (ko 7.45pm).
The visitors scored after six minutes as Mason-Clark raced through and sent a lobbed effort past goalkeeper Max O’Leary - with Alfie Gilchrist unable to quite scramble it off the line.
Coventry then doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark - Rudoni driving forward and hitting one into the top corner.
Eric Ramsay’s team didn’t hit back before the break, but after the restart Alex Mowatt saw a strike deflected wide and Callum Styles’ powerful, goal-bound attempt inside the area was also well-blocked.
Jayson Molumby headed off-target when the game reached its 70th minute, and Isaac Price soon forced a good stop from Carl Rushworth. Substitute Mikey Johnston curled over, too.
Ultimately, Albion couldn’t find a goal and Coventry left the Black Country victorious.
