Albion Under-18s recorded a thumping 5-1 victory over Ipswich Town at The Fitlife Foods Performance Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Chay Thompson's men raced into a 4-0 lead within 20 minutes of the game kicking off. Harry French started the scoring by converting a spot-kick in the first minute, Trialist B soon doubled the hosts' advantage, before defender Joel Asomugha and striker Jaiden Francis-Caesar put the young Baggies in a commanding position.

Charlie Wood registered a response for the Tractor Boys, but Albion's scholars soon regained their four-goal advantage before the interval - target man Justin Seven-Seven going from provider to converter having set up Francis-Caesar for his goal, finishing for his team's fifth of the encounter.

The scoring stopped there, but the incidents did not as both teams had a man sent off during the second period (Sidney Eldred for the visitors and Danyal Iqbal for the home side).

Nevertheless, an impressive victory in the U18 Premier League South saw Albion rise to eighth in the standings and follow up an equally eye-catching triumph over Chelsea last weekend - meaning it's now four wins from their last five league matches.

Thompson's team have a chance to make it three on the bounce when they host local rivals Birmingham City on Saturday, March 14 (ko 11am) at their Walsall HQ.

Albion: Trialist A, Asomugha, Perkins, Shaw (Iddrisa 60'), Round, Gompe (Iqbal 68'), Colesby (Bastafield 60'), French (Sankoh 60'), Trialist B, Francis-Caesar, Seven-Seven (Okorodudu 68').

Red card: Eldred (Ipswich), Iqbal (Albion).
