Albion Under-18s were narrowly defeated by U18 Premier League South leaders Tottenham Hotspur at the Fitlife Foods Performance Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
A quickfire trio of efforts from the visitors, which all came within the first 11 minutes of play at the Baggies’ Walsall base, were the difference in the tie - despite two home strikes in reply.
Ronny Moncur got the scoring underway for Spurs after just three minutes, before laying on the assist for skipper Tye Hall to double their advantage moments later.
Miracle Adewole scored to make it three, but Albion hit back with an instant blow as forward Justin Seven-Seven notched to reduce the deficit.
As Chay Thompson’s youngsters worked to get themselves back into the game, Alfie Round set up U18s top scorer Harry French to grab a consolation, as they were unable to get on the scoresheet again to equalise.
The Baggies sit sixth in the U18 PL South after 21 matches played, but remain just three points away from breaking into the upper regions of the table.
