Albion Under-18s were held to a goalless draw by Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

The young Baggies, who were led by U18 PDP Coach Chay Thompson for the game following Leigh Downing's step up to the U21s recently, edged the first 45 at the West Bromwich Albion Training Ground - seeing two key opportunities come and go.

Both fell the way of target man, Justin Seven-Seven, who headed Alfie Maughan's cross wide of the target prior to seeing a shot cleared off the line before the break.

Their south-coast counterparts grew into the clash after the restart and had a golden opportunity to make the breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty. Thankfully, shot-stopper Maxwell Moses was equal to Adam Brett's spot-kick - guessing right and parrying to safety on the 60-minute mark.

Albion substitute Remar McNeil caused the next major talking point in the game when he attempted to race through on goal, leaving Seagulls defender Isaiah Alakiu no choice but to haul him down.

As a result, the visitors were down to 10 men for the remaining 18 minutes but despite their numerical advantage, the hosts couldn't make it count and had to settle for a share of the points in Walsall.

The result means the Baggies' 18s are unbeaten from their opening two U18 Premier League South fixtures - claiming consecutive shutouts in the process.

Albion: Moses (GK), Maughan (c), Dupont (Gompe 64), Shaw, Perkins, Letlat, Iddrisa, Blackshields, Colesby (McNeil 64), Okorodudu (Francis-Caesar 75), Seven-Seven.

Substitutes: Brady (GK).
