Albion Under-18s departed the Premier League Cup competition at the quarter-final stage following a 4-3 defeat to Manchester United on Tuesday afternoon.
Chay Thompson's men gave themselves plenty to do in the second period after conceding four goals in the first 45, but the hosts came out with a point to prove at The Fitlife Foods Performance Centre.
Charlie Blackshields netted a stunning left-footed strike to start the comeback, and JJ Gabriel's dismissal two minutes later for the visitors as the clock struck 54' gave Albion's hopefuls renewed hope.
Rio Parmar tapped in a Dauda Iddrisa cross to halve the deficit, and although Harry French's dismissal evened out the numerical match-up between the teams, the scorer of the young Baggies' second goal found his side's third in the eighth minute of stoppage time from the penalty spot to create a nervy finish for the Red Devils.
Sadly, it came too late to keep their fight going in the U18 PL Cup as they exited the tournament at the last-eight stage.
