Steve Bruce: 'We didn’t play well enough'

Bruce post-Cardiff

Steve Bruce gave an honest assessment of Wednesday’s goalless draw with Cardiff City and admitted his side just “didn’t play well enough”.

The Baggies were unable to create as many goalscoring opportunities as they had in previous matches against Watford and Blackburn Rovers and were held to their third draw in four Sky Bet Championship games.

Steve said: “We simply didn’t play well enough.

“After some really good performances against Watford and then Blackburn, unfortunately, that one tonight was completely different.

“That’s the frustrating thing.

“We haven’t got beaten in the game, but we certainly haven’t done enough to win it and I have to be as honest as that.

“Maybe there were a few heavy legs but I’m not going to make excuses because it’s the same for both teams.

“We gave the ball away too cheaply and we made some bad decisions. We didn’t create chances well enough and I think that was evident in the performance.

“I think Cardiff played well on the night with a lot of young players in the team. They defended very well.

“We didn’t create enough because we didn’t make the right the decisions. We lacked a bit of craft.

“The games come thick and fast and we need to rest and recover. Hopefully, we can get a positive result on Saturday when we play Hull City.”
