Ryan Mason revealed he and his coaching staff are challenging the players to build more “togetherness and momentum” as they head into the festive period.
The Baggies have six Sky Bet Championship fixtures coming up in December, starting with Saturday’s showdown with QPR at MATRADE Loftus Road (ko 3pm).
Mason’s men produced a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat Swansea City 3-2 at The Hawthorns last weekend, a result which he hopes can be a catalyst for more consistent positive outcomes.
The boss is determined to see the whole club pulling in the same direction and believes the nature of their triumph over the Swans will have provided a “massive” boost to the team’s relationship with the supporters.
Ryan said: “We’ve had some really good training sessions this week. The lads work hard, really hard. They’re working really hard every single day and we’ve never had any trouble with that.
“The lads are pushing to improve in every training session and this week has been no different.
“We’ve got three games next week and we understand the importance of being ready. We’ve put in some good preparation and we’re looking forward to the challenges ahead of us.
“Naturally, when you come through an occasion like last week where we’ve overcome obstacles and come from behind to win, there’s going to be a really good feeling.
“The lads deserved it. The challenge now is to make sure we’re ready for the weekend and to try and build momentum going into the Christmas period.
“I hope our result and the way we achieved the result against Swansea can be a big catalyst for us moving forward. I think the players can certainly take a lot of confidence from it. We showed a great deal of personality, togetherness and quality.
“We’ve had a lot of performances this season that have warranted results, but we haven’t necessarily got them. There’s a calmness in the group. We know we need to continue to work hard, demand plenty from each other and push each other.
“We need the togetherness and momentum. It’s so important in football. The only way you build those things is by winning games and that’s the reality. The challenge for us is to try and do that as regularly as possible.
“We want to build connections with each other, but my feeling is that this group is tight. They care for each other, they run for each other and they compete for each other. That needs to stay the same.
“We also want to build as much of a connection as possible with the fans. To come from behind, in the nature that we did, was massive last weekend. I hope the fans can feel that and we need to try and build on that.”
Albion have had some disappointing recent results on their travels despite delivering encouraging displays.
Mason insists those setbacks away from home have been frustrating, but says the players will be focused on “competing together” as a unit down in the capital this weekend.
He added: “I want us to try and get back to a place where we are winning away games, just as we were at the start of the season. Recent results have been frustrating on the road. QPR is going to be a big challenge on Saturday. They’re a good team and they’re in a good moment.
“In our last away game at Coventry, who are the best team in the league currently, I thought we were excellent for 45 minutes. We scored two really good goals there.
“We should never have lost the game at Charlton. Our performance there was really good.
“To be honest, this weekend, the most important thing is to try and get a result. We’ll continue to work in the way that we want to and the players will try and implement that, but sometimes away from home, it can’t always look pretty.
“You need to be together and you need to compete for each other and that’s what you need to do before anything to get results on the road. That’s the challenge and that’s what we’ll demand from the players. Hopefully we can get a good result this weekend.”
