Forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan continued his progression in the EFL by putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with Albion.

He moves to The Hawthorns off the back of his best goal-scoring season on record at Sky Bet League One outfit Peterborough United – something he’ll be hoping to replicate in England’s second tier in navy-blue-and-white.

Joining the Baggies from Chelsea, the Blues provided JJ with his footballing education as an eight-year-old – moving to Southampton’s youth system up until the scholarship phase.

It didn’t take long for the Poole-born striker to prove his finishing prowess in the south coast side’s youth ranks. So much so, the youngster was named on the bench for the Saints’ Premier League clash with Brighton in December 2022 when he was just 16.

This form elevated Morgan’s growing reputation in the game and, once again, the forward would return to Stamford Bridge three months after his appearance on the bench.

After just a handful of games for the Blues’ under-18s, JJ became a regular feature in the U21s; totting up 46 appearances, scoring 21 times and contributing four assists over the next two and a half seasons.

Those displays at youth level earned the Chelsea product opportunities on the international stage too – representing England at the under-16, 17, 18 and 20s level, scoring nine goals in 23 appearances across the age groups.

Ready for the next step in his career, Morgan’s form took him to new challenges away from the capital – firstly making a temporary move to Sky Bet League Two side, Gillingham.

Joining the Gills on loan in January 2025, the attacker played 16 times, including 10 starts – netting his maiden senior goal in the EFL against Newport County, prior to finding the net again during the closing stages of the campaign at Cheltenham.

A teenager at the time, Jimmy-Jay stepped up his progression by venturing to Cambridgeshire – agreeing another loan move to League One Peterborough on deadline day in September 2025.

He would go on to have an outstanding season; playing 39 times in all competitions for Posh, bagging 14 goals and providing four assists. The striker hit the ground running with four goals in his first five matches – contributing at a steady pace throughout the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

With plenty of momentum and positivity behind him, JJ will be looking to continue his rise through the divisions alongside rising to the challenge in England’s second tier.
