Albion's PL2 team were beaten 2-0 down at Southampton on Monday night.
A goal in each half was enough for the hosts to secure all three points at Eastleigh FC's Silverlake Stadium.
The Baggies went close to opening the scoring inside the first ten minutes, but winger Ollie Bostock could only flash the ball wide of the target and not into the back of the net from a tight angle.
Instead, it was the Saints who gained the early advantage on the south coast. Cameron Bragg was able to get hold of the ball and rifle it into the roof of the net from six yards.
Southampton had a number of chances to extend their lead before the break, but Will Merry missed a hat-trick of opportunities - rolling wide twice and forcing Ben Cisse into a smart save.
Leigh Downing's group knew they had to come out and deliver an improved display in the second period and they almost found a leveller in the first few minutes of it. Bostock slipped in forward Torin Ntege, and although his shot was on target, Saints stopper Oscar Abbotson was able to thwart him.
It was 2-0 just moments later. Nick Oyekunle picked up the ball and rifled an attempt low into the far bottom corner after 51 minutes, a goal which put Southampton in a commanding position.
The hosts' skipper, Tommy Dobson-Ventura, then had an opportunity to add another, but his header went wide of Cisse's post.
The Baggies had a big chance to pull one back on the hour when Ollie Bostock danced beyond two defenders and delivered towards the back post. Striker Eseosa Sule was there to meet it, however, unfortunately, he could only hit the side netting.
Substitute Remar McNeil tried his luck from range after beating a couple of players, but his fizzing drive was parried by the goalkeeper and then cleared by a recovering defender, meaning Albion returned home with nothing to show for their efforts.
