Ollie Bostock | 'It's the best time of my life'

Match Reaction - Ollie Bostock.

Winger Ollie Bostock says Sunday's Emirates FA Cup penalty shootout win over Swansea has been the “best time” of his life.

The youngster, who was making just his second senior Albion appearance, assisted the visitors’ second goal, before stepping up bravely to net the winning penalty.

After biding his time to claim first-team minutes, 18-year-old Bostock says his performance in South Wales is the moment he’s been waiting for.

He said: “I can’t really sum up my emotions. It’s the best time I’ve had on the pitch and probably the best time of my life.

“It’s been what I’ve been waiting for, it’s been going through my mind everyday. If I’m on the bench, I’m always thinking of these moments where I’m scoring or assisting in front of the fans.

“I wasn’t even thinking about after the penalty. Every time I get to the penalty spot, the goal looks bigger than it does from further away. I just picked my spot and smashed it that side.

“I trust my technique to whip it that side, it feels natural. Going the other side feels a bit safe sometimes, so I trusted myself to get it in.

Ollie Bostock celebrates against Swansea.

“When I get the ball and I see defenders in front of me, I just want to run at them. I wanted to have better end product. I can’t say I was trying to pick out Jed (Wallace) for the goal, I was just trying to hit an area.

“It was a good finish from Jed but I couldn’t see any of it as I was on the floor. The lads have been singing the song that the fans have been singing, they’ve been saying I deserved it because I’ve been patient.

“I’ve had to wait for the opportunity and hopefully it’s been good to show what I can do.

“Mozza (James Morrison)’s good. I’ve had him with the U21s, he’s a very helpful coach. If I’m not doing well, he’s not afraid to let me know about it, but he’s great.”
