Loan review | Quartet in action across league & cup competitions

Mo Faal in action away from home for Doncaster Rovers

Four Albion players were in action for their loan sides over the weekend.

Duo Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Karlan Grant both featured for Bristol City and Cardiff City respectively in the Sky Bet Championship.

Midfielder Gardner-Hickman came on in the 67th minute of the Robins’ 1-1 draw at Huddersfield, replacing Andi Weimann and the John Smith’s Stadium.

Delano Burgzorg scored in the middle of the first 45 for the hosts, only for Tommy Conway to equalise for the visitors less than 60 seconds after the restart.

Forward Grant, meanwhile, completed the full 90 minutes for the Bluebirds who secured a narrow 1-0 home win over Millwall at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Greek defender Dimitrios Goutas scored the game’s only goal 20 minutes from the end.

Grant’s Cardiff sit seventh in the table ahead of the midweek fixtures, while Gardner-Hickman’s men are sat in 14th position after 20 matches.

Elsewhere in the EFL, young striker Mo Faal played the entirety of Doncaster Rovers’ goalless draw at Accrington Stanley in League Two.

The point on the road leaves Doncaster 17th in the fourth tier, nine clear of the danger zone.

Finally, teenage forward Layton Love was dismissed after picking up two late yellow cards for Brackley Town in their penalty shootout defeat to Welling in the FA Trophy.

Love’s second yellow arrived two minutes into added-time having come on in the 79th minute of the tie.

The two teams drew 1-1 in the normal 90 minutes, but Welling went on to secure a 4-3 triumph on spot-kicks.
