Jayson Molumby and Mikey Johnston will have a 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off to look forward to in March 2026 after the Republic of Ireland secured a remarkable 3-2 win over Callum Styles' Hungary.
AZ Alkmaar forward Troy Parrott scored a hat-trick in Budapest, with his third arriving in the dying seconds to spark wild scenes of Irish joy in the Hungarian capital.
Molumby started the encounter at the Puskás Aréna and completed an hour in the decisive qualifier, while Johnston was an unused substitute. Styles came on in the 63rd minute, replacing Daniel Lukacs.

Lukacs opened the scoring for the home team early on, but Parrott quickly equalised from the spot.
Barnabas Varga made it 2-1 to Hungary before the break, however Ireland's hero levelled the contest once again with just ten minutes remaining.
And Parrott delivered one of Ireland's finest moments in recent years with virtually the final kick, turning the ball home from close range to make it 3-2 - a goal which helped the Boys In Green leapfrog their opponents into second place in Group F.
Molumby, Johnston and Styles will now all return to Albion ahead of next weekend's Sky Bet Championship trip to leaders Coventry City.
