HEAD-TO-HEAD
Albion will be hoping to halt Middlesbrough's run of five straight victories in this showdown. The last Baggies win over Boro was a 4-2 triumph at The Hawthorns in August 2023.
The Baggies' last win at the Riverside Stadium was a 1-0 success in October 2019. Hal Robson-Kanu's scrappy strike in the final ten minutes was enough for Slaven Bilić's team to leave with all three second-tier points.
Albion boss James Morrison played all of his 438 club games in his career for the Baggies and Middlesbrough. Morrison came through the youth ranks at the Riverside Stadium and featured 97 times for Boro before making the switch to The Hawthorns in 2007.
Only one of the last seven meetings between the two clubs at the Riverside Stadium has ended level - a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the 2022/23 term.
MIDDLESBROUGH
Saturday's hosts have won three and lost one of their opening four games in 2026/27. Boro have beaten Wrexham and Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup, as well as Lincoln City in the Sky Bet Championship. They suffered a 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers last weekend in the second tier.
Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their last five home matches in all competitions, winning four and drawing one. Their last home defeat was a 1-0 reverse against Portsmouth on April 11.
The Teessiders haven't lost back-to-back Sky Bet Championship matches since two consecutive 1-0 setbacks against Hull City on December 29, 2025 and then Derby County on January 1, 2026.
The 2026/27 campaign is Middlesbrough's tenth consecutive term in the Sky Bet Championship. They've finished tenth or higher in eight of the previous nine seasons in the second tier.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION
The Baggies are aiming to win three straight league games for the first time since a run of three between May and August in 2025 when they beat Luton Town on the final day of the 2024/25 term, as well as Blackburn Rovers and Wrexham in the opening two matches of the 2025/26 campaign.
Midfielder Isaac Price has bagged back-to-back braces in the last two fixtures against Burnley and Middlesbrough. It's the second August in-a-row where he's notched three or more Baggies goals in the month.
Both teams have scored in Albion's last five games in all competitions, with 20 goals scored in total in those five fixtures.
Following triumphs over Norwich City and Burnley, the Baggies will be looking to win their first three games of a league campaign for the first time since 1997/98.
