James Morrison says he was pleased with his team’s efforts after they extended their unbeaten Sky Bet Championship run to six matches after Monday's goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers.
The Baggies produced a battling display in front of a 7,500-strong away following at Ewood Park to claim a valuable point.
Interim Head Coach Morrison believes his side “gave everything” during the encounter in Lancashire, and insists they were “hard to beat” throughout their endeavours.
He said: “I’m pleased because I’ve seen our players give everything today.
"We just had a lack of quality in the final third, and I think it might’ve been the occasion and what the game meant to everyone here, which led to us being a bit nervy.
“There were some good blocks, lads running back, it was just a lack of quality today.
“I said to the lads at half-time, all it takes is one moment of quality or composure on those final moves, and we could’ve won it - but we didn’t have that today.
“If that chance (Aune Heggebø’s first-half strike, which was tipped onto the bar by Blackburn goalkeeper Balázs Tóth) goes in and we come away with a one-nil win, then you’re thinking it’s a good away performance.
“We were hard to beat, solid, but when that chance comes, we have to be ruthless in the box. Ultimately, the goalkeeper makes a terrific save.
“It was two teams battling out there to try and push up the table. You could see that, and the nerves that followed too. We’ll get ready for Friday; it’s six unbeaten now, so we’ll keep plugging away.
“We found our pockets with the wingers inside and got some joy through that, but they changed it and came out to try and attack us after half-time.
"Our defence stood firm. I thought George Campbell was excellent, even though he was ill yesterday, so he did great to come out on top.
“I’ve got no complaints because players have given everything, and that’s how it should be. That’s how it’s got to remain for these last few games. We have a home game next against a good side, so we need to be ready for those moments and bring out the crowd.
“The fans are a huge part of the club. I’ve said it from day one of being here - they’re a massive part of it. We’re all really thankful for their support and we need them in their numbers for every game now.
“If they see us trying our best, then we’ll be happy.”
