Isaac Price | 'It's my best start but I want more'

Isaac Price says the start to the 2025/26 campaign has been the “best” of his career so far, but insists he’s “hungry” to improve further and will be demanding even more from himself going forward.

The midfielder has been one of the club’s best performers in the early knockings of the season, chipping in with five goal involvements in seven matches in all competitions – scoring three times and providing two assists.

He’s also impressed on the international stage, becoming the youngest player to hit 10 goals for Northern Ireland when he found the net against Germany in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Cologne just a few weeks ago.

The numbers he’s posted already at club level this term (three goals and two assists) better any full previous year he’s had since stepping into senior football.

Isaac insists he’s approaching fixtures with an enormous amount of confidence, but is adamant he can showcase even more of his ability.

Price said: “I’m pleased with how it’s gone with the goals and assists this season.

“I’m loving playing here, in front of the Albion fans, for the manager and for this club.

“I’m playing with confidence and, probably, the most confidence I’ve played with during my senior career so far.

“This is definitely my best start to a season, but I want more. I want to score more, assist more and, ultimately, win more games for the team.

“We’ve got a squad of players who are good enough to compete at the top end of this league and I believe we can beat any side on our day. That’s the main thing for us as a team and if I can contribute to that, then that’s just a bonus.

“I’ve had a few conversations with the manager and it’s about staying hungry. The position I’m playing in requires me to generate opportunities and score goals, which is a little bit different to the responsibilities I’ve had at previous clubs.

“Northern Ireland’s the closest I’ve got to playing in the position I am at the moment at club level, but I’m loving it and I think I’m learning more through playing in this role.

“The gaffer has coached a lot of players, is really good to learn off, and if we can get in the positions we have been recently and creating more of those moments, then I know more of them will start to go in.”

Price celebrates his 22nd birthday on Friday, the same day the Baggies take on Leicester City at The Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship (ko 8pm).

The number 21 says he has a perfect present in mind.

Isaac added: “There’d be nothing better than to score, assist and win on Friday.

“It will be the first time I’ve ever played a game on my birthday and my family are coming as well so, hopefully, it will be a great game.

“To score on my birthday or assist would be incredible, but the main thing is to just win and that would make the family meal and meet-up with a few friends over the weekend even more enjoyable.”
