Albion will host Derby County when the club celebrates the 125th anniversary of The Hawthorns on Saturday, September 13.
The Rams were the first-ever visitors to the Baggies’ home, playing out a 1-1 draw on Monday, September 3, 1900.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to the EFL for facilitating its request for Derby to return to The Hawthorns for the 125th anniversary fixture.
Football League founder William McGregor was one of the 20,104 spectators present for the opening of the club’s stadium – and Albion have extended an invitation to the EFL for representatives to be present at the anniversary game.
Black Country-born Rams legend Steve Bloomer wrote his name into the history books by scoring the Hawthorns’ first goal – before Charlie ‘Chippy’ Simmons equalised for the Throstles.
The club is finalising plans to ensure the anniversary fixture is a memorable one and additional information will be published in the weeks leading up to the game.
