Danny Imray says Albion are feeling confident after two impressive displays and insists the squad are determined to keep digging in in an effort to drag themselves out of trouble.
Imray has been one of the standout performers in recent draws against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday and then Southampton at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night.
The Baggies were left frustrated in midweek by Saints’ last-gasp equaliser, but the 22-year-old right-back is adamant there are plenty of positives to take from the encounter – positives he believes will stand James Morrison’s side in good stead for the remaining nine second-tier fixtures.
Danny said: “It was a very good performance from the boys against Southampton. I thought everyone was excellent, but we’re all so frustrated not to come away with three points.
“As a team, we definitely feel like we deserved all three points. Maybe there’s a bit of game management that we need to apply at the end to make sure we see the win out, but it was a positive performance and definitely something we can build on heading into the weekend.
“We’re pleased with our display, but we know we have to be better in last few minutes, especially in the position that we’re in. We need every bit of luck going our way.
“As I say though, it’s definitely something we can build on. We feel really good as a group right now and we feel together as a team. We can feel the fans are with us too, they were excellent at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night.
“We definitely need those three points on Saturday now against Hull, but the last two performances have been very good against two in-form teams and we can certainly take heart and confidence from that.
“We know what we’ve got as a team and we know the staff have given us clear instructions and confidence to perform on the pitch, so we’ll be doing all we can to get those three points this weekend.”
Imray has received plenty of praise from Albion supporters for his eye-catching showings over the last 180 minutes.
The on-loan Crystal Palace defender doesn’t want to “rest on his laurels” and is intent on impressing on a consistent basis.
He added: “On a personal note, it’s been a lot better from me in terms of my own displays. I don’t want to rest on my laurels though, I want to keep pushing on.
“Two good performances doesn't mean anything in the bigger picture. I need to keep putting in those performances consistently and hopefully those displays can help the team pick up the points we require.
“I’m always striving to be better and there’s always things I can work on. I’m always watching games back to see where I can get better and improve. The last two performances are definitely closer to what I know I can do. I’ve still got a lot to give and hopefully I can prove that to the fans.
“I’m loving my time here. Everyone has been great with me, we’ve just got to dig in now to get ourselves out of the position we’re in. We’ll do our best to do that.”
