Baggies duo Anna Miller and Phoebe Warner said they were delighted to be part of Albion Women’s first, hard-earned 2024/25 league victory on Sunday.
Both players made telling contributions to the victory at the Valley Stadium, where Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side ran out 4-0 winners.
Warner secured an incredible hat-trick of assists, while Miller saved a crucial Halifax penalty during a goalless first half in the FA WNL Northern Premier Division clash.
"I had a bit of a tough week at training,” reflected goalkeeper Anna. “I came into this game with a bit of a chip on my shoulder. So, the penalty save was a perfect opportunity and one that I hope was a big changing point in the game.
“I think we struggled a bit in the first half to keep the ball and keep it down. Then we came out second half and made changes that calmed us down, and we were able to connect and get four goals out of it.”
Phoebe agreed, adding: “I think first half we found it quite hard and the game was quite transitional. Then in the second half, we found our rhythm and created some chances - and that’s reflected in the scoreline.
“I mean, there's no hiding from it. I was really disappointed not to start last week. I think that's why I came into the game and I felt like I really had to push on.
“It's good to have competition around the squad, I think it makes us all work a lot harder. It pushes us in training and on matchdays, so overall it's beneficial to have that in.
"I just came in I wanted to express myself and play with freedom, and hopefully that's what I did."

The Baggies were roared on by plenty of supporters for their home bow at the Valley Stadium, and it's that backing that Miller is hoping to see again this Wednesday night for their FA WNL Cup clash against Solihull Moors.
"Shout out to Proud Baggies,” said Anna. “They're so awesome. They show up in their numbers always, it was just nice to hear them at the first home game.
"We always look forward to cup games, it's always a different challenge for us. We have to be ready for it.
"We get to play different teams as well, so it's always a good time. We hope to see as many fans as possible there."
And Phoebe is hoping they can use their good league start to get a midweek cup win, too.
“Getting a draw and a win from our opening games is good, and against two good teams as well, so it will put us in a good position in the table going forward.
"I'm excited for Wednesday's match. I think the cup provides a slightly different type of game. I think we're all looking forward to the challenge."
