George Campbell has been named West Bromwich Albion men's captain for the 2026/27 campaign.
The American defender was informed of the decision by head coach James Morrison on Friday morning at The Fitlife Foods Performance Centre.
Campbell, who joined the Albion last summer from MLS outfit CF Montréal, made 41 appearances for the club in his maiden season and flourished at centre-half in the final few months of the campaign under Morrison.
The 25-year-old takes over the full-time occupancy of the armband following the departure of Jed Wallace at the end of the last term.
George says he’s incredibly proud to have been handed the opportunity to lead Albion out on the pitch.
Campbell said: “It really is an absolute honour to be named club captain at this special football club.
“I understand the privilege and great responsibility that comes with wearing the armband, especially at a club that has had so many iconic skippers over the years.
“I’m excited to be leading a top group of players and working under the gaffer this season. We’ve had a strong summer and everyone is buzzing for the season to start.
“The supporters have taken me in and been amazing since I joined, and I’m determined to help make this an enjoyable year for them.
“I can’t wait to lead the boys out at Norwich this weekend.”
