James Morrison’s Albion brilliantly beat high-flying Hull City 3-0 at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

Goals by Josh Maja, Aune Heggbø and Isaac Price earned the Baggies an outstanding Sky Bet Championship win.

The hosts put in an electric first-half performance - starting during the opening seven minutes when Danny Imray saw a volley saved and Maja headed just wide.

While Oli McBurnie did twice threaten the Baggies - Max O’Leary keeping one attempt out and Nat Phillips blocking the other - it was really all Albion. Heggebø might have done better when well-placed inside the box as Ivor Pandur kept out his finish, however, his strike partner did deservedly break the deadlock midway through the opening period.

Jed Wallace took advantage of a loose goal-kick to run forward and cross into Maja’s path, and he made no mistake, firing home from inside the box for 1-0.

Hull then quickly went down to 10 men - defender Charlie Hughes pulling back Wallace, the winger causing the Tigers near-constant problems down the right.

Albion created chances aplenty to net again, yet they couldn’t add another before the break. Price and Maja had efforts saved, and City cleared a Jayson Molumby header off the line after Callum Styles’ corner almost creeped in.

There were further opportunities after the interval, too. Ousmane Diakite’s shot was deflected past the post, and Pandur stopped a Price curler.

Thankfully, the second did finally arrive on 67 minutes. With his first touch, substitute Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba delivered a great cross, which Heggebø converted - making it 2-0.

Styles smacked the post towards the end, but it was Price who added the third in stoppage time - rounding off an unbeaten week.
