Adam Reach content with individual & team display against Rotherham United

Adam Reach is interviewed after Albion's game against Rotherham

Adam Reach says he was "delighted" to play an important role in Albion’s 2-0 Sky Bet Championship victory over Rotherham United at The Hawthorns.

The versatile 31-year-old came into the starting XI against the Millers, replacing Conor Townsend at left back.

Reach laid the ball on a plate for Brandon Thomas-Asante to slam in the Baggies’ opener midway through the opening period, before going on to deliver an impressive performance over the course of the remainder of the clash.

Adam says his side were worthy winners and believes they used plenty of their “tools” to secure the triumph.

He said: “It was lovely to be out there tonight. It was great to get a start and to play another 90 minutes.

“I’m very happy with how I performed and I’m feeling good. I’m delighted to be involved with the team and it was nice that we got over the line and got three points.

“We had to use all of our tools to get over the line. Rotherham came, and with their situation, maybe they were going to play with freedom. They made it very difficult for us at times tonight and we had to show a lot of maturity and a lot of patience.

“We showed a lot of quality too. It was a job well done and now we move on to the next one.

“From that position at attacking full-back, it’s my job to link up with Mikey Johnston down the left. I pride myself on my goal contributions, be it goals or assists, and I have done over the course of my career.

Adam Reach is mobbed by his team-mates after setting up Brandon Thomas-Asante to score against Rotherham at The Hawthorns

“In recent times it’s been way shorter than what I would like so it was really nice to get an assist and I was really happy to see Brandon score. At this point in the season, if you can get your striker firing then that’s brilliant.

“We scored the second at a really good time. To go in 2-0 up at the break made Rotherham come out a little bit in the second half which made it easier for us to control the game.

“It’s an exciting time for us but we have to pinch ourselves and hold ourselves back because we’ve still got four games left and nothing is confirmed yet.

“A lot of things can happen in the league, but we’re in a really good position. We can’t rest on our laurels. We have to reach our maximum level in terms of performance and we have four important games to try and do that.”
