Young winger Remar McNeil signs professional deal

Albion youngster Remar McNeil has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old winger penned a two-year deal until the summer of 2028, following an impressive end to the 2026/27 campaign in the age group above.

McNeil's impact on the PL2 squad was clear, providing six goal contributions (three goals, three assists) in 11 appearances, as well producing some eye-catching displays.

At just 16 years of age at the time, the attacker stole the show with two assists on his first U21s start against Liverpool's star-studded hopefuls, prior to netting a game-changing brace to help the Baggies' young pros beat Derby County 4-2.

Confidence will be high for the Dudley-born winger, who's been at The Hawthorns since the age of seven, after agreeing pro terms - something which comes as a “reward for the level of quality” shown across his time with the club so far, according to Academy Manager Richard Stevens.

He said: “When you look at Remar’s season, it’s only right to reward that level of quality with this contract.

“He’s been in the Academy from a very early age and has been a really eye-catching player during my time at the club.

“He’s had some hurdles and some really good challenges along the way, but he's overcome them during his academy journey and that's allowed him to grasp these opportunities in the under-21s.

“It showed, too, as he stayed in the team and didn’t come out of it. That’s testimony to the effort he’s put in because he’s a very humble lad and has always supported the boys - even when out injured, Remar was always there, home and away, backing the rest of his team-mates.

“We set out to offer these lads early professional contracts and early exposure to those higher age groups. In finding those experiences, the lads have shown a togetherness, spirit, and a culture to go and get some really impressive wins with their age groups.

“He has the chance to grow a really nice career at Albion and I only see Remar flourishing in this environment and getting better with time."
