Despite a battling performance, Albion Under-18s lost 4-2 against West Ham United at Little Heath Sports Ground on Tuesday afternoon.

A penalty within the first nine minutes of the encounter put Leigh Downing's charges up against it on their travels, and it proved to be an opportunity too good for Josh Landers to turn down - converting from the spot to give the Hammers an early advantage.

Still, the young Baggies showed their battling characteristics to turn the tables on their London counterparts before the break.

Dauda Iddrisa restored parity within three minutes of going behind, and Dan Chimeziri used his first start back in the 18s to good effect a minute before the interval - setting up Rio Parmar to score the goal which put the visitors ahead going into the second 45.

Frustratingly for boss Downing, his team conceded another penalty after the restart which Elisha Sowunmi duly dispatched to level up the contest once again on 67 minutes.

Sowunmi would be the one to restore West Ham's lead with five minutes remaining, before another chance from 12 yards allowed the hosts to confirm victory over Albion - with Landers netting from the spot to claim his brace, and all three points for the hosts from Tuesday's U18 Premier League South affair.
