Albion Women are delighted to announce the signing of young defender Ruby Heselden from Northampton Town.

The 19-year-old, who was named the Cobblers' 2024/25 Player of the Season, provides further defensive competition for Siobhan Hodgetts-Still's side - following the signing of Zoe Creaney.

Heselden logged 12 clean sheets and scored three goals in 28 appearances for Northampton Town Women over the course of the 2024/25 campaign.

And she's thrilled to make the step up into the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.

"I'm delighted to join the club, it's a really exciting opportunity and I can't wait to get started," said Heselden.

"The women's set-up here is really strong already and is growing quickly. I'm really glad I've got the chance to be a part of it.

"I knew this was the right move for me to develop my game after speaking with the manager. I could see the professionalism and high standards the club holds after speaking with her, and that's something I value highly.

"The staff and players have been great welcoming me already, and I can see the ambition in the set-up which is definitely something that drew me to sign.

"I feel like I can grow and learn here and bring my qualities to the team. I can't wait to get started."

Albion Women Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still is delighted to add Heselden to her charges as her team continue to prepare for the upcoming season.

"I'm really happy that Ruby has decided to commit to the club this season," added the boss.

"Ruby's a young left-sided player that will bring great physical attributes to the side and further bolster our back line ahead of the season.

"She had a great campaign with Northampton, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her push on here at the Albion."
