Loan review: Six Baggies in action away from The Hawthorns

Six Albion loanees featured for their respective clubs over the weekend.

It was a milestone Saturday for young shot-stopper Josh Griffiths, who made his 100th professional appearance for Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth.

The England youth international celebrated by keeping a clean sheet - his sixth of the campaign - and helping Pompey to a 1-0 away win against Forest Green Rovers, with Sean Raggett’s 17th-minute goal proving decisive for Danny Cowley’s men.

Elsewhere, Tom Fellows continued his regular run in League Two Crawley Town’s starting XI, playing 71 minutes as their unbeaten run carried on in a five-goal thriller against Mansfield Town at Broadfield Stadium.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead through strikers Ashley Nadesan and Tom Nicholls, the Stags restored parity before the break thanks to Jordan Bowery and George Lapslie. But Town forward Nadesan completed his brace a minute into the second 45 to secure a 3-2 win and extend Crawley’s unbeaten run to three games in all competitions.

In the Sky Bet Championship, there were starts for Alex Mowatt and Cedric Kipre.

Doncaster-born midfielder Mowatt completed 45 minutes for Middlesbrough before being substituted for Hayden Hackney during their goalless draw with Huddersfield, while Kipre played the full 90 minutes as Cardiff City - who were reduced to ten men following the early dismissal of former Baggie Callum Robinson - fell to a 2-0 defeat in the South Wales derby against Swansea.

Fellow centre-half Caleb Taylor couldn’t prevent League One Cheltenham Town falling to a 1-0 defeat against Burton Albion over the weekend.

The Baggies academy graduate played the full game at the Pirelli Stadium, his 14th successive league start for the Robins, but Brewers striker Victor Adeboyejo's goal 13 minutes from time condemned Wade Elliott's team to a third successive defeat.

Finally, fellow youngster Ray Tulloch featured for the closing stages of fourth-tier Rochdale’s clash with AFC Wimbledon, but couldn't stop them falling to a 2-1 defeat at the Crown Oil Arena.
