Gallagher ready to sparkle under Slaven Bilić

New signing Conor Gallagher says he's ready to sparkle under Slaven Bilic

Conor Gallagher has his sights set on becoming the latest youngster to flourish on loan at The Hawthorns.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who gained valuable senior experience in the Sky Bet Championship with Charlton and Swansea last season, has joined up with the Baggies for the 2020/21 campaign from Chelsea.

He’s the latest promising star to temporarily join Albion. Harvey Barnes and Mason Holgate impressed during their time with the club in 2018/19, while attacking duo Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana proved to be two of the stars of last season’s promotion-winning squad before signing permanently this summer.

And Gallagher believes West Bromwich Albion is the perfect fit for the next stage of his development and insists he will give his all for Slaven Bilić’s side in the Premier League.

"I’m delighted to be here," he said.

“I played against Albion three times last season and I watched the club a lot. I like the way we play.

“I felt like this was the best club for me. There was other interest but West Bromwich Albion was the right team for me.

“I feel like I can help the team a lot this season and I feel like I can develop a lot here.

“The most important thing this year is to try and help the club stay in the Premier League.

“I’m buzzing to be in the Premier League this year. I played at Charlton and Swansea last season which I was fortunate to do because they are both great clubs.

“But I wanted to play in the Premier League this season and the opportunity came up here. I can’t wait to make my debut.

“Young players seem to flourish here. I think that is credit to the Club and the way the team plays.

“I’m hoping to do the same. I’ll do everything I can to help the team this season. I just can’t wait to get going.”
