Albion Women have another cup semi-final to look forward to on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Wolves to the Alexander Stadium (ko 1pm).
Sunday’s cup tie is the second time they’ve hosted their Black Country rivals this season, and the second cup competition they’ve encountered them in too.
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side won the tournament last season, beating Rugby Borough 6-2 in the final at the Bescot Stadium.
Last time out
The Baggies booked their place in the last four with a win over Leafield Athletic in late January at the Alex.
Forward Rhianne Oakley scored her third goal of the campaign, a cooly-taken effort to earn the hosts a spot in the semi-final.
The opposition
Opponents Wolves remain second in the FAWNL Northern Premier and have a game in hand on league leaders Burnley.
The Baggies inflicted a first defeat on home soil for Dan McNamara’s side when they won in the FAWNL Cup last month.
Albion’s Black Country opponents beat Birmingham City PGA in their quarter-final tie, winning 8-0 away from home.
Previous meetings
Wolves 0-1 Albion – January 2026
Hannah George scored her first Black Country derby goal in their most recent win against Wolves.
The Baggies secured their spot in the FAWNL Cup semi-finals with victory at the SEAH Stadium, Telford.
Albion 0-3 Wolves – December 2025
The visitors came out on top when Wolves visited the Alexander Stadium at the end of 2025. Anna Morphet, Amber Hughes and Amy Sims got on the scoresheet before the latter was sent off.
Wolves 5-0 Albion – March 2025
It was a tough afternoon at the Molineux when the Baggies went to Wolverhampton in March of last year. The visitors were beaten heavily.
Pre-match thoughts
Defender Zoe Creaney is hoping for a change of fortunes as Albion take on their second semi-final challenge in the last week.
The Baggies fell short against AFC Bournemouth at the Nationwide Windows Arena on Sunday, where their performance was below par compared to their FAWNL Cup quarter-final showing against Wolves.
Creaney believes her side weren’t “at the races” against the Cherries, but despite this, has encouraged her team-mates to look at the “bigger picture” of their promising cup runs during the season so far.
She said: “I don’t think we were at the races against Bournemouth. We were slow to each duel, they were beating us to it and that put the back line under a lot of pressure.
“When you’re under that much pressure, it’s difficult not to concede goals, and we’ve got a lot more to give. I don’t think that performance was a good reflection of us on Sunday.
“Credit to Bournemouth, their front line is top quality, there were three or four players against us and they caused us all sorts of problems. There’s only so much we can do under that sort of pressure.
“It would’ve been great to get to that final, but it’s important to look at the bigger picture. We’ve got to the final four, we did well in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, and have another semi-final to look at.
“We’ve got to leave Sunday’s performance where it is and look forward now. We need to step it up for the next few, we’ve got big games coming up and a three-game week, it’s another semi-final and a possible final to look ahead to now.
“We can be happy with where we’ve come from, but we need to be better than we were last week."
