Five Baggies academy graduates were in action for their respective loan clubs this weekend.
Midfielder Cole Deeming had one of the telling touches in Cheltenham Town’s 3-2 victory over Salford City on Saturday afternoon.
The Robins came back twice to leave the game hanging in the balance as Deeming came on as an 82nd-minute substitute. He then swung the winning cross onto the head of George Miller for the winner in the sixth minute of added time at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
The Baggies academy graduate's assist helped earn Steve Cotterill's men three points - a result which leaves them nine points above the League Two relegation zone, having collected 35 points from 32 matches.
Winger Akeel Higgins was a half-time substitute as Exeter City played out a 3-3 draw away at Peterborough United.
The Grecians were a goal down when the 20-year-old was introduced, and they immediately saw a turn in their fortunes - striker Jayden Wareham scoring a hat-trick to put the visitors 3-1 up.
Interim boss Dan Green’s men couldn’t hold onto their advantage, though. Posh loanee Harry Leonard scored a late brace to ensure the points were shared.
Forward Dan Chimeziri made his first start for Rushall Olympic in their Pitching In Northern Premier League goalless draw with Cleethorpes Town on Saturday.
The 19-year-old played 75 minutes before being replaced by Jakub Kruszynski at The HPS Planthire Stadium.
Defender Jamal Mohammed also featured in the seventh tier on the same day.
It was the first game since his loan at Gloucester City was extended, and Mohammed helped the Tigers keep a clean sheet in their convincing 5-0 victory over Wimbourne Town. Strikes from Joe Hanks, Elis Watts and a Kane Simpson hat-trick were enough to keep their promotion hopes on track.
Finally, Evan Humphries managed 58 minutes for Oxford City as they were beaten 2-0 by Marine AFC at The MGroup Stadium.
Striker Charlie Jolley opened the scoring, before fellow forward Offrande Zanzala added a second to Marine’s tally in the 85th-minute, leaving Ross Jenkins’ men two points from safety in the Enterprise National League North with 13 matches left to play.
