Albion Women to play historic first fixture at The Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion Women will make history in March when they play their first official match at The Hawthorns, the home of their male counterparts since 1900

West Bromwich Albion Women will make history in March when they play their first official match at The Hawthorns, the home of their male counterparts since 1900.

Albion Women, who regularly play their Women’s National League games at Sutton Coldfield Town’s Coles Lane ground, host high flying Derby County on Sunday, March 6, 2022 (ko 2pm).

And Jenny Sugarman’s Albion will hope to bring in a bumper crowd to not only ensure success on the day for the team, but also to cement their appearance as a regular fixture at The Hawthorns for years to come.

Tickets are on sale from the Ticket Office or via tickets.wba.co.uk, and are priced at just £5 for adults and £1 for under-18s.

Boss Sugarman, who took charge earlier this season, said: “This is a first for a generation of Baggies fans and a first for our players. We really hope Albion supporters come and support us on what will be a very special occasion.

“The players have been brilliant since I arrived, and they deserve this opportunity to play in front of a passionate and big crowd in the club’s own ground.”

Albion Women kicked-off 2022 by netting a dramatic late goal to beat Stoke City 1-0 at Coles Lane on Sunday

Dave Lawrence, Albion Women’s Director of Football, added: “Everybody is very excited for the game. We really want Baggies fans and our local community to come and get behind their team at The Hawthorns.

“We’ve kept the ticket prices really competitive for the whole family to come along to generate a great atmosphere for the team on the day. It should be a fantastic afternoon.”

Albion Women are currently sat eighth in the Women’s National League Northern Section and made history recently by progressing to round five of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup for just the second time ever.
