Albion Women secured a last-gasp win over Liverpool Feds in their final match at the Alexander Stadium for the season on Sunday afternoon.
The Baggies went behind in the FAWNL Northern Premier encounter, but turned the scoreline around with efforts from Ella Haughey and Taylor Reynolds.
It didn’t look like it was going to be Albion’s day when Liverpool Feds equalised midway through the second half - but Marli Rhodes’ strike in added time sparked pandemonium at the Alex to secure a 3-2 victory.
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still made one change from the side that fought valiantly at Molineux last weekend. Defender Zoe Creaney was reinstated into the starting line-up after missing the Black Country derby.
Midfielder Monique Robinson almost got the Baggies off to the perfect start in Perry Barr, as she came close to notching an Olimpico just five minutes into the match - but her corner bounced agonisingly wide.
The visitors took the lead soon after. The hosts failed to deal with an inviting delivery which landed at the feet of Katie Anderson, who deflected skipper Chantelle Thompson’s shot past Charlotte Clarke.
Simran Jhamat and Fran Orthodoxou had tameable efforts in response, but in the end, full-back Haughey notched to send the Baggies level. The Northern Ireland youth international met Liv Rabjohn’s smart ball to drill into the bottom corner for the equaliser.
And she almost notched a second moment before half-time. She flew in to bravely meet a ball at the back post, only to see her header land behind the goal.
Haughey turned goalscorer to provider to tee up Albion’s second. Some sumptuous combination play freed the left-back to fire a pinpoint cross onto the boot of her opposite number, Reynolds, who was on hand to give the hosts a worthy lead.
The visitors equalised on the hour mark after Chloe Fisher’s header was pushed into the path of Emily Cole, who made no mistake in prodding home the leveller.
Both sides tried their luck in the closing stages, including when goalkeeper Clarke came out to smother a visiting attack.
But that wasn’t the final effort in proceedings, as substitute Rhodes nodded in a rebounded Monique Robinson free-kick to secure a late three points, rounding off a successful campaign at the Alexander Stadium.
