Opposition

Huddersfield Town are right in the thick of a promotion fight having put together one of the most impressive unbeaten runs the Championship has ever seen.

You have to go back as far as late November 2021 and a 2-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough to find their last league loss, and the Terriers arrive on Friday night as the only second-tier side yet to taste defeat in the division this calendar year.

Last Friday night's 3-0 win at the The John Smith's Stadium over Peterborough United was Town's fourth consecutive league win, a sequence of positive results which started with a 2-1 triumph at leaders Fulham.

Boss Carlos Corberán took over in July 2020 and guided the Terriers to safety in his first year, finishing 20th.

But this season, Town have different targets. The club has been outside of the top flight since relegation in 2018/19, but they are now serious contenders to return to England's elite division once again.

Promotion is the target for the Terriers

Classic clash

The Baggies ran out 4-2 winners over Huddersfield Town the last time the Terriers travelled to The Hawthorns in September 2019.

Lewis O'Brien put the visitors in front before Matt Phillips' instant equaliser. Karlan Grant restored Huddersfield's lead ahead of the interval, but second-half goals from Darnell Furlong, another from Phillips and Semi Ajayi sealed three points for the Albion.

Did you know?

Albion's leading scorer this season Karlan Grant bagged 23 goals in 57 games for Huddersfield Town.

Grant represented the Terriers from January 2019 until his move to The Hawthorns in October 2020.

Matt Clarke is the cover star ahead of the Baggies’ clash with Huddersfield Town on Friday night and provides an insightful interview in the latest edition of Albion News.

The defender hasn't been content with recent results but said last Saturday’s win over Hull City was a big “relief”, as the Baggies ended a tricky run of form.

And while the defender acknowledges the threat which Carlos Corberán’s Terriers side pose ahead of this week’s exciting Championship match, the centre-back says Albion have the chance to make a “statement” against one of the division’s in-form teams.

Catch the thoughts of Clarke, along with words from the gaffer Steve Bruce, captain Jake Livermore, Quevin Castro on his first season in B71, the lowdown on Albion Women’s historic first fixture at The Hawthorns last Sunday, as well as the Baggies’ new partnership with Her Game Too.
