Albion U18s 3 Southampton U18s 1

Albion extended their unbeaten run in the U18 Premier League to three matches after an impressive performance saw them defeat Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Forward Mo Faal opened the scoring for the Baggies just before the interval and despite the Saints levelling 10 minutes into the second half through Jayden Smith, a brace from Jovan Malcolm ensured victory for Peter Gilbert’s side.

The Baggies’ first half efforts were rewarded when Faal netted for the second game in succession to give his side the advantage going in at the break.

But Albion weren’t able to hold onto their lead and Southampton forward Smith equalised early in the second half to give Gilbert’s side the task of reinstating their lead once again.

And 15 minutes later they did just that when Malcolm restored their advantage and just seven minutes after his first, the lively forward doubled his tally to help the Baggies swing the game in their favour.

Malcolm’s brace means he's now netted four goals in his last three matches for the under-18s - following on from his brace against Leicester City three weeks ago - as Albion’s youngsters were rewarded for their positive performance with another positive result.
