Albion and Charlton Athletic played out a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns on Tuesday evening.
George Campbell’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Lyndon Dykes’ 70th-minute finish, meaning the Sky Bet Championship spoils were shared.
The hosts enjoyed the better of the first half, initially creating a few half-chances when Campbell saw an awkward effort saved from close-range and Charlie Taylor flashed a volley narrowly off-target.
Although Max O’Leary was forced into saving Harry Clarke’s speculative strike, the Baggies continued pressing for an opener as the break drew nearer.
And their much-desired goal arrived during stoppage time. Alex Mowatt swung a superb corner towards the back-post where Campbell arrived - the defender nodding home to send Albion in one-up at the break.
The Baggies had further opportunities after the game restarted. A quick, flowing move ended with Maja poking past the post before both Nat Phillips and Charlie Taylor headed crosses over. Isaac Price diverted a finish wide, too.
Against the run of play, though, Charlton equalised via Dykes - who went through and slotted under O’Leary 20 minutes from full-time.
Mowatt and substitute Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba went close late on, but a winner didn’t arrive and it ended level.
