The Baggies go to battle with Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship on Boxing Day (ko 3pm).

Carlos Corberán's men were beaten 1-0 at Middlesbrough on Saturday, while visitors Norwich City claimed a 2-0 victory at home to Huddersfield Town.

The last time the two clubs met was back in April at The Hawthorns, with Albion coming out 2-1 winners.

The opponents

Norwich City arrive at The Hawthorns on Boxing Day on a five-match unbeaten run, winning three and drawing the other two.

The Canaries secured three comfortable points at home to Huddersfield at the weekend thanks to strikes from Sam McCallum and Borja Sainz, goals which lifted them up to within two points of sixth and two points of the Baggies. 

Tuesday's visitors went through a six-week spell between the end of September and the start of November where they only won one of ten games in all competitions, but they've hit a bit of form and will head to the West Midlands with renewed confidence and belief.

City, who finished a disappointing 13th last term, now have their sights firmly set on ensuring they're in with a shot at securing promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in May.

Former Huddersfield Town, Schalke and Young Boys boss David Wagner is leading that charge. He was appointed in early January 2023 and has a record of 19 victories, 19 defeats and nine draws from his 47 fixtures in the Canaries dugout.

One to remember

Albion secured a big three points at home to Norwich City back in April.

The visitors took the lead towards the end of the first-half courtesy of Josh Sargent's strike, only for Conor Townsend to equalise before the break with a fantastic free-kick.

Jed Wallace won it for the Baggies in the early stages of the second 45, converting a left-wing cross at the back post in what was the club's final home match of the 2022/23 campaign.

Did you know?

Albion will have their sights set on making it five games unbeaten against the Canaries on Tuesday afternoon.

The Baggies have won two and drawn two of the last four head-to-heads.

Albion have taken a total of four points off Norwich in each of the last two campaigns where they have both participated in the Sky Bet Championship - 2018/19 and 2022/23.

Ticket details

Tickets are on general sale for Albion’s Christmas fixture against Norwich City.

Seats are priced £28 adults, £23 seniors, £17 for supporters aged 20-25, £12 for supporters aged 17-19 and just £5 under-17s.

An adult disabled supporter ticket is priced £18 and includes free access for a personal assistant.

Please note, Baggies fans purchasing online and opting for an e-ticket will not pay any additional fees, while supporters who opt to purchase match tickets in-person or choose to collect from the club’s ticket office will be charged a £1.75 transaction fee.

Fan Zone

The Fan Zone will be open from 12.30 on Boxing Day to supporters of both West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City in possession of a valid match ticket.

A wide variety of entertainment will be on offer, including a live singer and DJ, inflatable games for the kids to enjoy, a host of food and drink options, several spot prizes to be won and Baggie Bird and Boilerman on hand for those all-important selfies.

Club legend Brendon Batson will also be making a special appearance so be sure to head over before kick-off.

- There are no train services on Boxing Day  

- Bus services will be operating an alternative timetable on most routes with last journeys between 18:00- 20:00 

- Metro will be operating a Sunday service and are expected to be busy 

What should you do?

- Plan ahead and leave more time for your journey 

- Check timetables ahead of travel including the last service after the match. 

- To check festive services please visit  www.tfwm.org.uk/festive and use the Journey planner   

- Could you retime your journey? Buses and Metro will be busier – plan ahead and keep moving       

- If you do need to drive, please car share if you can.

Albion earned an important 1-0 win over Norwich City at The Hawthorns on Boxing Day.

A sell-out crowd watched the Baggies grab all three Sky Bet Championship points thanks to Brandon Thomas-Asante’s second-half goal.

Carlos Corberán’s men return home in just a few days, hosting fellow top-six side Leeds United this Friday (ko 8.15pm).

The boss made one switch after the Middlesbrough defeat, replacing Jeremy Sarmiento with John Swift.

His team created a number of good chances during a goalless first 45, going closest when Swift struck the post following a fantastic cross by the ever-dangerous Baggies captain Jed Wallace.

Norwich did threaten Albion’s goal a few times, Borja Sainz’s long-ranger having to be well-saved and Shane Duffy’s header going narrowly over.

But they were also reduced to 10-men as Sainz was shown two quick yellow cards - leaving the visitors a player down come the break.
 

Albion managed to find the breakthrough just five minutes into the second period - Grady Diangana knocking Wallace’s ball back, and Thomas-Asante poking home his eighth of the season.

The Baggies went searching for another, Diangana side-footing off-target, Cedric Kipre seeing an attempt bravely blocked and Furlong diverting wide.

They were indebted to Alex Palmer 13 minutes from time, though, with the goalkeeper pulling off a wonderful save and denying substitute Ui-Jo Hwang an equaliser.

And that proved to be decisive - Albion seeing the game out to claim the victory and stay fifth in the table ahead of Leeds’ visit.
