Kayden joined Albion Under-21s in August 2026. 

Born in Bristol, Lucas - a 6ft 4in central midfielder - began his career in the south west and got people taking notice around the age of 12. 

Starting his footballing journey at Weston Town, Bristol City offered Kayden a trial off the back of his form at the amateur side. 

Despite a chance to impress at the Robins not panning out, another professional team offered the youngster an opportunity in the form of Exeter City as a 13-year-old. 

Lucas’ time at the Grecians would last a couple of year before joining Clevedon Town as a 15-year-old, catching the eye in their youth sides with his prolific contributions in front of goal. 

This prompted Premier League side Newcastle United to act on their longstanding interest, offering Kayden a two-year scholarship in July 2024. 

A couple of seasons in the Magpies’ U18 team came to an end in 2026, allowing the energetic midfielder to start a new chapter with Albion - where he signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year in the club’s favour.
