Bio

Born in Sierra Leone, Umar has been with the Baggies since the age of nine. 

Growing up in Coventry, the quick-footed attacking midfielder began showing his ability at local outfit Coventry Sphinx. 

It was at Sphinx where one of his games against Stratford Town caught the attentions of one of Albion's academy recruitment staff members, Kevin Dove. 

Someone who can make things happen, Sankoh developed his attacking game throughout the age groups up until the scholarship phase - where he signed a two-year deal in the summer of 2025. 

While most of his maiden term as a scholar was spent in the Under-18s, Umar made his bow for the U21s too - coming off the bench in a 2-1 Premier League Cup group win over Exeter City in December 2025. 

Adding more goals and assists to his game will be the key to a successful future in the game, and something Sankoh will be hoping to show over the coming seasons at the club.
