Bio
Left-back Alfie knows the Black Country all too well through his upbringing and footballing roots.
Born in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, Round began developing his football experiences locally - featuring for Sunday League team, Old Wulfrunians prior to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers' development side.
It wasn't meant to be at Wolves, though, prompting Alfie to switch allegiances and prove himself at Darlaston Town. His displays at the non-league side gave him the confidence to join one of Albion's football camps, where an academy coach offered the defender a week-long trial in the Foundation phase.
Having clearly proved his credentials, Round then gained a two-week trial at the Academy - a successful on too, joining the Baggies permanently as a 12-year-old prior to progressing onto the scholarship phase in 2025, where he penned a two-year contract at The Hawthorns.
Like many of his Under-18 colleagues, the left-sided defender played plenty of football under boss Chay Thompson for his actual age group, as well as a step above for Leigh Downing's U21s over the course of the 25/26 campaign - coming off the bench in a PL2 match against Southampton in January 2026.
A full-back who likes to get up and down the flank, contributing assists with his crosses as well as doing the defensive side of the game, Alfie will hope the scholarship phase brings the best out of him as he looks to develop his attributes over the course of his time at The Hawthorns.
