Bio

Centre-half George has experienced both sides of the Black Country divide during his early footballing career.

Born in Hagley, Stourbridge, George has been in the West Midlands his whole life, with his initial taste of the game coming on his doorstep at West Hagley FC in Sunday League action.

But potential was there from the start with the left-footed defender, evident when Wolverhampton Wanderers signed his at the age of seven. Shaw would spend the following eight years of his life at Wolves, leaving just before the scholarship phase of his career.

This is where West Bromwich Albion entered the fray - following a two-week spell at Kidderminster Harriers - to present George with a new chapter to get stuck into, with the Baggies signing the youngster at the age of 15.

His promise was clear early doors, playing plenty of football in the year above for the Under-18s - even featuring as a second-half substitute against Manchester City during the club's FA Youth Cup quarter-final clash in February 2025.

A defender with an exciting future, Albion secured Shaw's services when he agreed to sign a two-year scholarship in July 2025, and with a first term involving plenty of action in the U18s with Chay Thompson, the defender will be keen to step up to the 21s during the 26/27 season and exhibit his skillset at the heart of defence.
