New Albion Women signing Tara Kirk says joining an “ambitious” project was at the heart of her decision-making this summer.
The forward joins after four successful seasons at Peterborough United, where she netted 55 goals and powered the Posh towards promotion to the FAWNL Northern Premier.
Kirk has already played her first two matches in navy-blue-and-white too, she was a trialist for their last two friendly matches against Swindon Town and Real Bedford - and the 23-year-old even scored against the former.
The goalscorer looks forward to joining the Albion, and believes she can “contribute” to a positive 2026/27 campaign.
She said: “I’m so excited. It’s nice to get it over the line and I can’t wait to get started. Everyone has been so welcoming. I'm very fortunate with the way I’ve been accepted in the group, and I can't wait to do as well as I can for the club.
“I’m very impressed with the facilities. It’s really great that the women’s team get looked after so well here, and that was a big deal for me when joining.
“I’ve spoken with Siobhan Hoggetts-Still and Martyn Irvine. They’ve both been super welcoming and it’s been great to meet them and train under them. They’re both very ambitious and that matches me perfectly.
“What made it so attractive to me was how much they want to push on from last season. I really want to be a part of that and help out on the attacking front to help them finish higher than last season. You always want to be at the top and I don’t see why we can’t be.
“Goalscoring is what I do, but I also like to contribute deeper on the pitch, provide assists and I really want to show what I can do for the squad.
“I feel confident. It’s always challenging to come into a completely new setting as a trialist, but it had to be done and it was a good feeling to travel on the coach and bond with the team.
“On the way back they were making me do my karaoke song already, so there was a real feel-good factor. I’m excited for the new chapter and the new experiences that come with it.
“I feel like pre-season has felt like such a long time. I can’t wait to get the ball rolling on the new campaign and go for it properly. I just want to get started.”
