Soule targeting ‘progression’ ahead of Forest PL2 test

Jamie Soule is hoping to “kickstart” his recent return to action with a goal when Albion’s PL2 side take on Nottingham Forest at Meadow Lane on Monday night (ko 7pm).

After a spell out due to personal reasons, the Albion academy graduate made his comeback in Richard Beale’s team during October against Middlesbrough before playing another 45 minutes against Stoke City last week.

And the 20-year-old has his eyes set on getting a run of goals going, as he looks to end 2021 on a high note.

Soule said: “I’ve really enjoyed being back out on the grass. It’s been a hard journey but the most important thing is I’m back improving and picking up where I left off and the game against Stoke was a good starting point for me.

“But it's all about small gains so the fact I’m seeing improvements is a very good sign and that gives me more confidence to keep progressing.

“I’m investing everything I need to be where I want to be and it’s all about getting momentum back and showing what I can do.

“It’s always challenging coming back after some time out, but I’m adaptable and look after my body. The fitness is getting there and it won’t take me long to get back to my usual levels.

“Getting a goal would be the kickstart I need, as well as getting 90 minutes under my belt. After I get those, I’m sure the rest will fall into place.

“Mentally it’s been a really hard journey for various reasons but we all go through difficult times in life and that’s what makes us stronger. It’s all about having good people around you and the club have supported me throughout my time here. I’m just focused on kicking on and showing where I can get to in my career.

“There’s a good bunch of lads here and we’ll be aiming to pick up another positive result because there’s high ambitions here this year and Bealey drives us all on. With the mentality the team’s got this year, we’ll definitely be looking to carry that into the Forest game.”
