Albion LGBTQ+ supporters’ group, Proud Baggies, have been shortlisted at the Football v Homophobia Awards for a third consecutive year.
Having picked up the inaugural award in the Supporters Group category in 2020, they ensured a back-to-back triumph by winning it again last year.
And now they’re looking to secure a hat-trick - all while showing support for Football v Homophobia ‘Month of Action’, which is currently taking place throughout February.
“We’re delighted and proud to be shortlisted for the third consecutive year,” said Piero Zizzi, founder and chair of Proud Baggies.
“It’s testament to the work that goes on all year round as we, as a club, look to lead the way on inclusion and diversity and continue to break down barriers.
“We couldn’t do the work we do without the support of the club, our members, the Foundation and the wider Albion family, so a huge thank you to every one of you that has played your part - your allyship doesn’t go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.
“There’s still lots of work to be done and we have exciting plans in place in the near future as we continue to make West Bromwich Albion a safe, inclusive and welcoming place for all.”
The awards will be held online on Friday, February 25 from 8pm. You can access more information on the organisation’s work via the FvH website and their social media channels.
Good luck, Proud Baggies!
