Albion Women’s Tara Kirk will look to draw upon her previous goalscoring nouse at Peterborough United to ensure a smooth step-up to the FAWNL Northern Premier.
The 23-year-old boasts an excellent scoring record in the division below the Baggies, and will aim to translate that to her spell in B71 for the 2026/27 campaign.
Kirk began her career at Leicester City, where she hails from, at the age of seven. She progressed through their academy ranks, and even earned herself international recognition during her time with the Foxes.
The forward was called up for the Republic of Ireland’s youth squad at just 16 years old, and also made her mark on the senior stage.
Tara joined Long Eaton United for a flavour of FAWNL football across a short loan spell, while also notching for the Foxes’ youth team in the process - she scored nine goals in 15 appearances for Leicester’s reserve team.
This meant Kirk made a worthy claim to make her first-team debut for Leicester, and she did so in 2019, when she made her maiden appearance against Reading.
After her first senior appearance, the forward was keen to claim more first-team minutes, and therefore joined Peterborough United in search of just that.
And the 2022/23 season bore many fruits for the young striker, as she opened her first full senior campaign with plenty of strikes.
Kirk scored her first Posh goal against Lincoln City in a 4-1 victory over the Imps at the Weston Homes Stadium, but this was just the start of her scoring endeavours.
The former Republic of Ireland youth international finished the term with 19 goals across 31 appearances as Peterborough managed a creditable fourth place in the FAWNL Division One Midlands.
Their league position wasn’t the only success for Kirk and her colleagues that campaign, though, they also won the 2022/23 Northants Cup, when she scored twice in a 9-1 triumph over Northampton Town.
The following season saw Tara in similar form, as the Posh rallied closely, but unsuccessfully for promotion with a third-placed finish. She again, had 19 goals to her name, but in slightly less appearances that time around (29).
It became successive third-placed efforts for Peterborough in 2024/25, as Kirk once again spearheaded a rampant attacking force, scoring 14.
2025/26 brought a tough campaign for Tara personally, as battles with injury saw her make just 14 appearances for the club as Posh were promoted to tier three, earning the right to play Albion this season.
Kirk joins the Baggies with over 50 goals in the division below, and plenty of confidence she can translate that goalscoring form to the Baggies’ hopes this term.
