New Albion Women forward Phoebe Hollin joins with hopes of further fulfilling her early career promise.
The 22-year-old came through the Manchester United youth ranks, and also featured at tier-three level with Halifax.
Born in Moorside, Oldham, Phoebe started her career within United’s academy at the age of 13.
She cut her teeth within the Red Devils’ youth set-up, and while at U16 level, won back-to-back league championships and reached the FA Cup final across consecutive years.
Initially a full-back, from there she would progress further up the field as she made the transatlantic leap to study at Temple University, based in Philadelphia in 2021 after her contract expired at the Red Devils.
Alongside studying Kinesiology (a type of sports science) where she had a scholarship. She appeared in 15 matches for Temple during her freshman year, and played the second-highest minutes of any rookie that year.
In 2022, she started 15 games and clocked 1350 minutes, and proved to be quite the creative force within the Owls’ ranks, as she tallied up three assists - the highest amongst her peers. Hollin notched her first assist against Long Island University in October of that year.
The following season saw her bestowed the role of team captain, as she proved to her a leader on and off the field. To match her new leadership role, Phoebe played every single match for the Owls (18) and featured for 1558 minutes across the campaign.
And she went one better in 2024, as she capped off her studies by playing the most minutes, still as skipper, and scored on senior day against the University of Alabama - her first for the Owls.
After returning from the States, Hollin was keen to get straight back to the English football scene, and joined Halifax of the FAWNL Northern Premier.
The Eagles finished 11th in the third tier, as they were relegated from the division with just 16 points, but Phoebe still shone in a struggling side.
Hollin finished as Halifax’s top scorer with six strikes, and played in both fixtures against the Baggies along the way.
And with hopes of gaining regular minutes for Charlie Fripp’s side this season - the young attacker will aim to produce similar heroics in B71.
