Pre-season 2026/27 | Albion Women 1-1 Wolves

Abbey Jones.

Albion Women produced a strong showing to draw with WSL2 Wolves in their final pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Abbey Jones cancelled out Tammi George’s early effort to gain a creditable draw.

Charlie Fripp’s side now turn their attentions to league action as they begin their FAWNL Northern Premier season at Stoke City next weekend.

Riya Mannu.

The Baggies weathered an early storm, which included a shot blazed over by Chloe Williams, to produce opportunities of their own.

Jess Collyer and Milly Round had efforts cleared off the Wolves’ goalline after a scramble in the penalty, where Albion really should’ve gone ahead.

But it was the visitors who grabbed the upper hand. Midfielder Tammi George headed Dan McNamara’s side in-front from a corner.

Albion looked to respond, and while Naomi Powell’s corner struck the upright, they went in behind at the break.

The two sides exchanged scoring opportunities as the game entered the second period. Albion forward Jones fired over after a slick counter-attack, while Yana Daniëls did the same for the visitors.

Not long after, Jones persisted and got her reward as the hosts pressed high to equalise. Riya Mannu won the ball high up the pitch, leaving the attacker the chance to tap away the leveller.

Daniëls headed wide for the visitors, while Collyer met a cutback which was deflected wide and neither side could find another breakthrough before the final whistle.

Albion: Grimshaw; Reynolds (Sharp 88’), Creaney, Day (George 78’), Haughey; Powell, Rush, Mannu; Jones (Rabjohn 78’), Round (Oakley HT), Collyer.
