Albion Under-21s suffered late heartbreak at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies were beaten by a 73rd-minute David Modupe strike at the Loughborough University Stadium - the side's second game in the space of six days.
Saturday's result means Leigh Downing’s young charges are still waiting for their first win of 2026, but could secure a quarter-final place in the Premier League Cup when they host Queen's Park Rangers at Alexander Stadium on Wednesday evening (ko 7pm).
