Ousmane Diakité has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with the Albion, ensuring he will remain at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2029.
The Malian midfielder went from strength to strength throughout the 2025/26 season, ending the campaign as a mainstay within the team during the crucial ten-game unbeaten run under James Morrison.
Since arriving from Austrian side TSV Hartberg in 2024, ‘Oussie’ has made 63 appearances for the Throstles and opened his goalscoring account on Boxing Day last year.
Albion confirmed they had exercised an initial one-year contract extension for Diakite back in March, but following his eye-catching performances over the remainder of the season, the 25-year-old's stay will now continue even further into the future.
Speaking to WBA TV, Ousmane said: “I’m just so happy to sign the new deal.
“When I first came here, it was a little tough, but now I’ve adapted to the new challenge and I’m ready to get properly into next season. We have a beautiful family here and that makes me very happy.
“I want to thank all the fans for their support, and I want to continue in the same way with the gaffer, Mozza, in charge.
“I’ve learned a lot of things from him, and now he’s the gaffer, I think I’m going to learn a lot more, improve a lot and progress with him.
“He did very well before and it’s a new challenge for him. I think we’re going to do the maximum for him all together next season.”
