Loan Review | Mixed fortunes for Albion players away from The Hawthorns

Jamie Andrews in action.

Eight Baggies were in action away from B71 over the weekend.

It was a fine start to life at Alvechurch for Baggies goalkeeper Brad Foster, as he capped his first start for his new loan club with victory and a clean sheet in the FA Trophy.

In a heated encounter, Alvechurch beat Anstey Nomads 1-0 thanks to Jaanai Gordon's spot kick.

Gordon was sent off in first-half stoppage time, but Alvechurch held out to secure their victory and earn passage into the next round of qualifying for the competition.

In Sky Bet League Two, there was disappointment for striker Mo Faal, who saw his Doncaster Rovers side fall to a late 1-0 defeat at Stockport.

Faal started the encounter at Edgeley Park, but couldn't find a route to goal, with Isaac Olaofe's effort proving the difference, lifting the hosts to second place in the standings.

There were better fortunes for Ethan Ingram, who played the full 90 in Salford City's 4-2 win over Crewe Alexandra.

A thrilling encounter saw both teams score in added time at the end of the second half, but it was Salford who would claim the spoils, with Ryan Watson and Kevin Bercoe following up a Matt Smith brace at the Peninsula Stadium.

Meanwhile, Jamie Andrews and Grimsby Town had to settle for a point on their travels as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

Andrews featured in the heart of midfield for The Mariners, who saw goals from Danny Rose and Rekeil Pyke cancelled out by Kieron Morris and Connor Jennings at Prenton Park.

That draw leaves Grimsby 18th in the table, whilst Salford City have risen to 13th on the back of three straight victories. Doncaster are 20th with three wins in their last five fixtures.

in Sky Bet League One, neither Jovan Malcolm or Zac Ashworth came away with victories over the weekend, but there were good signs for the former's side.

Cheltenham Town had been without a goal so far this campaign, but they broke that duck in the first half of their 1-1 draw with Derby County - with Rob Street finding the back of the net in the 39th minute.

Curtis Nelson equalised in first-half stoppage time for the Rams, but neither side could find a winner in the second period as the points were shared at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.

Meanwhile, Bolton fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, as a Jordan Gibson hat-trick earned Carlisle victory.

in the Sky Bet Championship, Karlan Grant played the full 90 minutes of Cardiff City's 1-1 draw at home with Watford.

Mark McGuinness netted the host's goal, but Vakoun Issouf Bayo earned the Hornets a point with his goal in the second half.

Finally, Taylor Gardner-Hickman started for Bristol City as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Elland Road.

Goals from Dan James and Joel Piroe either side of Kal Naismith's equaliser cast the Robins to their third defeat in the last five league fixtures.
