James Morrison targeting a positive end to frustrating term

James Morrison is interviewed by the media in front of the press conference sponsor board

James Morrison says Albion are completely focused on finishing what has been a really frustrating season on a positive note this weekend.

The Baggies welcome Luton Town to The Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime (ko 12.30pm) for what will be the club’s 46th and final fixture of the 2024/25 term.

The Hatters are in the thick of a relegation battle and head to the West Midlands knowing a victory will definitely keep them in the second tier.

Morrison insists it’s important not to get caught up with the visitors’ situation, stating his side have an important job of their own to handle – delivering a strong performance and securing a win in front of the supporters.

He said: “We’re going into Saturday’s game with the mindset of finishing the season on a positive note and giving the supporters the win which their support deserves.

“We’ve spoken to the players about being professional and doing everything right, whether that’s at the training ground or at home and away from our working environment.

“I’m confident everyone is in the right mind to go and do that this weekend.

“It’s the final game of what’s been a frustrating season. We can't get rid of that frustration, but we have to try and finish our campaign with three points in front of our own supporters.

“We know what the game means for Luton, but we’re playing to win for ourselves on Saturday. We’re not here to worry about anyone else or what other teams might be playing for.

“We want to win regardless of the situation the opposition find themselves in.

“The fans want to see a positive reaction, a positive performance and the players fighting for the shirt. We’ve got plenty to play for as well.”
