Baggies duo Isaac Price and Chris Mepham helped guide their respective nations to victory in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches on Thursday.
Price played the majority of Northern Ireland’s 3-1 success against Luxembourg at the Stade de Luxembourg.
The Baggies man, who had unfortunately missed a penalty inside the opening ten minutes of the contest, was replaced by Dion Charles with just over five remaining on the clock.
Jamie Reid, Shea Charles and Justin Devenny all found the net for the Green and White Army, with Aiman Dardari notching for the hosts who had defender Seid Korac dismissed in the middle of the second half.
Those three points send Price’s team top of Group A after the first round of fixtures. Elsewhere in the same group, Slovakia defeated Germany 2-0 at home. Northern Ireland travel to Germany for a clash with the four-time FIFA World Cup winners on Sunday night. That particular tie takes place in Cologne.

Mepham, meanwhile, completed 86 minutes for Wales who secured a crucial 1-0 triumph in Kazakhstan. It was an occasion which saw the defender win his 50th cap for his country. The new Baggies signing came off for Ben Cabango in the dying stages.
Wrexham forward Keiffer Moore provided the decisive strike in the middle of the opening period to send the Dragons top of Group J with three games to play.
Wales are in action once again on Tuesday night, hosting Canada in a practice encounter in Swansea.
Finally, Aune Heggebø was an unused substitute for Norway who defeated Finland 1-0 at home in a friendly. Erling Haaland scored the game’s only goal from the spot in the first 45.
Heggebø will hope to earn a senior debut when his country take on Moldova in Oslo in FIFA World Cup qualifying on Tuesday night.
