Foundation Grassroots Coaching Academy to continue

Coaching Classroom

The Albion Foundation's Grassroots Coaching Academy is returning in September after a successful summer of online continual professional development sessions.

Directed specifically towards grassroots and entry-level football coaches, the Academy aims to provide individuals with unique insights and knowledge to improving people as well as players across the FA Four Corner Model.

The return of the programme will see the sessions take place on a variety of days, aiming to suit the coaching community who will all be delivering their own sessions on particular days of the week.

The full schedule for the next set of sessions can be found below.

Wednesday, September 2: It’s great to be back! Learnings from lockdown and planning the season ahead

Wednesday, September 9: Mentorship - How to get the best from your players and staff

Tuesday, September 15: Psychological and social focus

Friday, September 25: Physical focus

Wednesday, September 30: Technical/Tactical focus

The new set of CPD will help coaches to analyse their time coaching since the lifting of the lockdown measures, and look to improve in various ways, says Head of Sport at the Foundation, Dave Lawrence.

"Coaches have been generally 'back on the grass’ since our last sessions so this next block will allow us to reflect on what the coach has done well, and develop their knowledge in areas they feel their players would benefit from," said Dave.

"The Grassroots Coaching Academy received excellent feedback and good numbers of engaged local and international coaches in the initial block of four weeks, so we can't wait to get going again and hopefully welcome some new faces from various coaching backgrounds," he said.
